Mudjacking & Concrete Lifting in DFW

Sunken concrete isn't just an eyesore — it's a safety hazard and can signal voids beneath your slabs that may affect adjacent structures. Mudjacking (also called slab lifting or pressure grouting) is a proven, minimally invasive method to raise settled concrete flatwork back to its original elevation without the cost and mess of full replacement.

Cracks in your walls? Sticking doors? Don't wait — foundation problems get worse.

What is Mudjacking & Concrete Lifting?

Mudjacking is a process in which a slurry mixture — typically a blend of soil, cement, and water — is pumped under pressure through small holes drilled into a sunken concrete slab. As the slurry fills voids and builds pressure beneath the slab, it lifts the concrete back toward its original elevation. Once the desired height is achieved, the drill holes are patched and the area is restored. Mudjacking is most commonly used on concrete flatwork: driveways, sidewalks, patios, pool decks, garage floors, and steps. It's generally faster, less expensive, and less disruptive than removing and replacing the settled concrete. Modern alternatives to traditional mudjacking include polyurethane foam injection (polyjacking), which uses lighter materials and smaller drill holes.

Signs You May Need Mudjacking & Concrete Lifting

  • Tripping hazards where one concrete panel has settled relative to its neighbor
  • Visible gaps or voids appearing beneath the edge of a concrete slab
  • Water pooling on a driveway or patio after rain due to loss of slope
  • Sunken or tilted garage floor slabs
  • Pool decks that have settled away from the pool coping
  • Sidewalk panels that rock or shift when walked on

How We Do It

1

Assessment & Drill Pattern

We assess which panels have settled, identify the location and extent of voids beneath, and plan the drilling pattern for optimal slurry distribution under the slab.

2

Drill Access Holes

Small holes (typically 1.5–2 inches in diameter) are drilled through the settled slab at calculated intervals — typically 2–4 holes per slab panel.

3

Slurry Injection & Lifting

The cement-soil slurry is pumped under pressure through the holes. We monitor the lift at multiple points simultaneously to achieve even raising and prevent over-lifting.

4

Patch & Restore

Once the slab is lifted to the correct elevation, the drill holes are patched with cement grout and finished to blend with the surrounding surface.

Why North Texas Clay Soil Makes This Critical

The clay-rich soils throughout the DFW Metroplex are the primary culprit behind settled concrete flatwork. During extended dry periods — common in North Texas summers — clay soils shrink, creating voids beneath concrete slabs that can cause sudden or gradual settlement. Areas with older municipal infrastructure (clay drainage pipes that have deteriorated) can experience void formation from underground water erosion, compounding the soil shrinkage issue. Neighborhoods with heavy tree coverage — common in established Dallas, Richardson, and Garland neighborhoods — also experience void formation as tree roots extract moisture from soil beneath adjacent concrete.
